Foster Township Police Chief Jeff Wolbert has announced that he
intends to retire from his position by Jan. 1 and pursue another
career.
At Monday’s Foster Township Supervisors meeting, Wolbert
unofficially announced he was planning to retire in response to
presented inquisitions.
“I’ve been here 33 years and I’m ready to go,” Wolbert said
Tuesday evening. “I have had a great time here. It has been a nice
33 years.”
According to Wolbert, once officials reach the age of 55, they
no longer receive incremental benefits within that position.
“The age requirement is 55,” Wolbert said. “Once you reach that
age you don’t receive any further benefits. There is a saying, they
say every year you continue working after that you stay for half of
the pay.”
Wolbert said that he intends to search for another career in the
future.
“It probably won’t be in law enforcement,” Wolbert
commented.
Wolbert’s successor will be announced later, following a topical
review by the Foster Township Supervisors.
“We’ll miss Jeff,” said Foster Township Supervisor Chairman Bob
Slike on Tuesday. “He was everybody’s friend and always very
professional in his services.”
Slike also noted that Wolbert has carried a pleasant disposition
while serving with the township police department.
“He was always smiling, and when you needed him, he was never
down and out,” Slike said.
“He has been a good cop and loyal to Foster Township,” Slike
said. “We wish him well in his retirement.”
A call seeking comment from Supervisor Chris Wolcott, who
oversees the police department as supervisor, was not immediately
returned Tuesday night.
