Some positive changes are on the way for the federal program
that guarantees commercial air service for Bradford Regional
Airport.
U.S. Rep. Glenn Thompson, R-Pa., said Tuesday that the problems
experienced by the airport in the past are leading to some changes
in the federal aviation subsidy known as the Essential Air Service
Program. The program guarantees commercial air service to airports
which had operated above certain passenger levels before the
airlines were deregulated in 1978.
“We just passed the (Federal Aviation Administration)
Reauthorization,” Thompson said of the U.S. House of
Representatives. “I believe the Senate has as well.”
