A pair of Bradford High players have accepted invitations to
play in the Don Raabe Big 30 Charities Classic.
Brad Daughenbaugh and Mike Marasco are two of the six additions
this week to the Classic roster.
Daughenbaugh, 6-0, 200 pounds, was a two-way tackle for the
Owls.
He will attend Penn State Behrend in the fall to major in
mechanical engineering.
Daughenbaugh’s honors include being a two-year letterman, team
captain, a PFN Honorable Mention All-State selection and a member
of the National Honor Society.
“My dad was in the Big 30 and it gives me a chance to play one
more time,” he said of the Raabe Classic. “It is an honor to play
with the best kids around and it’s for a good cause.”
His biggest thrill was winning the District 9 Class AAA
championship his sophomore year and starting his senior season with
a 6-0 record.
Marasco, 6-2, 200 pounds, was a tight end and defensive end for
the Owls.
He will be attending Penn State University in the fall to major
in engineering.
Marasco’s honors include being a National Honor Society member
for three years, a 2009 Olean (N.Y.) Times Herald Big 30 All-Star
at defensive end, a District 10 Region 6 All-Star tight end
2008-2009, a District 10 Region 6 All-Star at defensive end in
2009, a member of the PFN All-State Academic Team for 2008 and 2009
first team with 3.9 and above GPA, a 2009 Fuhrman Chiropractic
Co-Player of the Year and a member of the 2008 PFN Keystone Club
for having more than 10 tackles for a loss in a season.
“My dad played in the Big 30 game, and I always wanted to keep
the family legacy going,” he said. “It also offers me one more time
to go on the field and play the game I love.”
Also added to the Pennsylvania roster is Andy Neatrour of
Smethport.
Neatrour, 6-0, 225 pounds, was a nose tackle for the
Hubbers.
He plans on going into the welding and fabrication trade after
high school.
“I have put a lot of time and effort in getting ready for the
Big 30 game,” he said. “I just like playing football.”
Neatrour’s hobbies include hunting and fishing. His favorite
team is the Steelers, and his favorite football player is Casey
Hampton.
Added to the New York roster are Mike Miller of Salamanca and
Matt Ryan and Zach Barrett of Cattaraugus-Little Valley.
Miller, 5-11, 265 pounds, was a two-way tackle for the
Warriors.
He plans on attending college or joining the military to get a
degree in biology.
Miller’s honors include being a member of the 1,000-pound club,
a High Honor Student and a member of the Spanish Honor Society.
“I love football and it is an honor to represent my school and
state in this game,” he said.
His biggest thrill while playing football was setting school
records his senior year.
Ryan, 6-1, 260 pounds, was a guard and tackle.
He plans to attend college and study architecture.
Ryan’s honors include being named to the first team all-stars as
an offensive lineman his junior and senior year.
“I have a love for football and I have played football every
year that I could,” he said.
His biggest thrill while playing football is the preparation for
the game and getting pumped for the game.
Ryan enjoys hunting, fishing and fixing cars when not playing
football.
Barrett, 5-10, 210 pounds, was a center/defensive tackle for
Cattaraugus-LV.
He plans on attending college to major in either physical
education or physical therapy.
Barrett made the second team All-State in football his senior
year. In September 2009, he was selected Student of the Month.
“I want to show people that I can step up and play in a higher
level football game,” he said of the Raabe Classic.
His biggest thrill while playing football is being focused and
determined for every play of the game.
This year’s game, the 37th annual, will be played at 7 p.m. Aug.
7 at Bradford High’s Parkway Field.
The first 36 games produced over $1,350,000 donated to numerous
charities and personal causes throughout the Twin Tiers.
Teams consist of graduated seniors from 29 high schools in New
York and Pennsylvania that make up the Big 30 area.
The New York team is comprised of players from
Allegany-Limestone, Bolivar-Richburg, Cattaraugus-Little Valley,
Cuba-Rushford, Ellicottville, Franklinville, Gowanda, Olean,
Pioneer, Portville, Randolph, Salamanca, Wellsville and West
Valley.
The Pennsylvania team is comprised of players from Bradford,
Cameron County, Coudersport, Eisenhower, Elk County Catholic, Kane,
Johnsonburg, Otto-Eldred, Port Allegany, Ridgway, Sheffield,
Smethport, St. Marys, Warren and Youngsville.
