As Heidi Klum would say, “One day you’re in and the next day
you’re out!
OK, so I watch Project Runway. No big deal. I’ll bet Clarkie
does too!
Anyway, tonight should pretty much determine who’s in and who’s
out as far as District 9’s Class A and AA playoff races are
concerned. Remember, eight teams qualify in Single-A and four in
Double-A.
In Class A, Cameron County, the only unbeaten team in the
district; Clarion, Curwensville, Keystone, Coudersport and Port
Allegany are all in.
The final two schools, if they accept invitations, will come
from teams with losing records.
In Class AA, Karns City and Brockway are in, with Moniteau
knocking on the door. The fourth spot is up for grabs and could be
stretched out to week 10 of the season.
The Class AAA race, which takes just the top two teams based on
power point totals, is still up for grabs. All four teams –
Bradford, Clearfield, Punxsutawney and St. Marys – play 10 regular
season games and it may take them all to determine the two teams
playing for the district title.
THE RECORD: The number of games I’m picking each week has
dwindled because I don’t do the playoffs. Last week I was 14-5,
making it three straight weeks that I’ve only had five misses. My
overall total stands at 155-67 for the season.
Now, on to this week’s games and then I have to try and win
tickets to Heidi’s gala Halloween Party.
TONIGHT’S GAMES
Erie Prep at Bradford
“This is a big game in our region for both teams,” Mike
Mischler, Prep head coach, said earlier this week. “They (Bradford)
don’t throw the ball a lot. When they can, they like to run the
ball with Pascarella and they’re pretty consistent with it. He’s a
great back. We hope our speed can match up with him and we can
limit his yardage.
“They also mix it up pretty well on defense. They make a lot of
adjustments. We just have to play our game,” he added.
One former Owls player told me he is concerned his team is
getting soft because of the artificial turf field. In his playing
days, rain, mud and/or snow were Owl weather. That wasn’t the case
last week. Bradford didn’t handle the mud and rain very well at
North East.
The Owls are at home tonight on the turf, so maybe that will
change. However, it won’t be easy against the Ramblers. Prep by

C-M came into last week’s game with Clearfield unbeaten. They
