Brandon Stoltz smashed a three-run home run and a two-run double
to power the Bradford Nationals to a 14-4 five-inning win over the
Bradford Americans in a District 10 11-12-year-old North Division
Little League baseball all-star game Wednesday.
The Nationals plated six runs in the second inning and four runs
in the fifth frame to stay alive in the double elimination
tournament.
Justin Fishkin (solo home run, 3 runs scored), John Pantuso
(3-for-4, solo home run, 3 runs scored), Seth Bigley (RBI double),
Sawyer Packard (RBI double) and Hunter Johnson (2-for-2) also led
the winners. Stoltz and Pantuso had back-to-back home runs in the
fifth inning.
On the mound for the Nationals were Andrew Bacha, Ryan Boyer,
Pantuso and Connor Vecellio, who combined on a five-hitter, struck
out 12 and walked six.
Rob Rice and Ryan McCammon were on the mound for the Americans,
scattering 11 hits, whiffing six and walking five.
McCammon (double, solo home run, 3 runs scored), Rice (double)
and Garrett Kornacki (RBI single) led the Americans, who were
eliminated.
The Nationals are at Ridgway at 6 p.m. Monday.
In other action, the Warren Americans defeated Smethport
8-3.
On the mound for the winners were Tanner Stanz, Matt Hultquist
and Kyle Hunt who combined to allow eight hits, eight strikeouts
and three walks.
Stanz had a double for the Americans (3-0).
Hurling for Smethport were Ryan Corbett, Nate Wilber and Jake
Lister who combined for six hits, six strikeouts and seven
walks.
At the plate for Smethport (2-1) were Ryan Stratton (HR,
double), while Wilber, Corbett and Dustin Zetwick each had a
double.
Smethport will play July 8 against the Bradford
Nationals-Ridgway winner.
