WARREN -ðA Tidioute man died as a result of injuries sustained
in a Jeep crash that occurred at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday on Morrison
Hill Road just north of Main Street in Deerfield Township.
A Jeep driven by Nicholas Jon Gazalie, 21, was traveling at a
high rate of speed, according to the Warren-based state police. The
Jeep traveled 96 feet off the west berm and went out of control.
The Jeep traveled 75 feet across the road in a northeast direction,
traveling off the berm and hitting the road. The Jeep came to a
final rest in an upright position partially on the road.
Police said both Gazalie and a passenger, Clyde A. Fry, 19, of
Tidioute, were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected from the
Jeep.
Gazalie was taken to Warren General Hospital by the Tidioute
Volunteer Fire Department and was pronounced dead at the hospital
by Warren County Coroner Jeremiah C. Borden, according to
police.
Police said Fry was taken to Titusville Area Hospital by a
private party for moderate injuries sustained in the crash. He was
treated and released, according to a nursing supervisor at the
hospital Thursday.
Tidioute Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene and was
assisted in transport by members of Life Star of Erie.
The Jeep had moderate damage and was removed from the scene by a
private party.
