Jay Pecora and Shawn Huber carded 68 to win the low gross
portion of the Zippo Open at the Pennhills Club on Saturday.
Pecora shot 69 while teaming with Huber.
They were challenged by Chris Drongosky and Vinnie Lazzara (71),
who won on a match of cards over Lew Zande and Tim Hall (71).
Dan Reiley and Tim Reiley were next at 73. They won on a match
of cards over Norm Strotman Jr. and Brennan Payne (73). Dave Kahm
and Matt Kahm shot 74 and Dave Rakus and Pat Johnson fired 75.
Paul Kessel and Jim Curcio shot 56 to take the low net event.
They were challenged by Dan Brinsky and Jim Siffrinn (58), Rev. Art
Cox and Pete Christjohn (60), Pat Vigliotta and Dr. Kamran Saleh
(60), Matt Monago and Joe Troutman (61), Al Webster and Denny Werts
(61), Mike Martin and Rick Pedine (63) and Gene Fazio and Stan
Pecora (64).
Kathy Taylor and Marcia Bower won the women’s low gross tourney
with a score of 80. Jan Brown and Mary Sue Golen took the low net
competition with a score of 63. Patsy Arrowsmith and Ginny Neel
were second with 64.
Mike Davis and Don Williamson won the low gross unaffiliated
division (85). They were chased by Bob Mongillo and Leo Williams
(85) and Jim McDonough and Marty Ours (85).
Ties were broken on a match of cards.
Matt Kahm was closest to pin 6 (7’2″).
In a skins event for the women, Sue Martin and Mary Rich had two
skins (holes 3, 4), Brown and Golen had two skins (holes 8, 15) and
Taylor and Bower had two skins (holes 10, 18).
Strotman and Payne (hole 4), Reiley and Reiley (hole 6), Brinsky
and Siffrinn (hole 7) and Rakus and Johnson (hole 17) each had one
skin in the men’s competition.
Dean Harten (35), A.J. Moeke (20) and Jim Tarasovich (10) were
pot of gold winners.
