ALTOONA – Derek Hornung and David Lyons each tripled to power
Cameron County to a 12-1 victory over Claysburg-Kimmel in the first
round of the PIAA Class A high school baseball playoffs
Tuesday.
“Every member of the team had at least one hit,” praised CCHS
coach Dick Harrier. “We just came off the bus swinging. We were
ready to go.”
The winning pitcher was Jordan Crane who fanned eight, allowed
two walks and scattered three hits.
“They couldn’t figure out Crane on the mound,” Harrier
added.
Sharing the mound duties for C-K were Matt Aungst, Rich Brown
and Kaleb Fleck who combined on seven strikeouts, five walks and 14
hits.
“They scored their only run in the fourth inning and by that
time we had nine runs on them,” Harrier stated.
Also carrying Cameron offensively were Crane, Cameron Clingan,
Sean McManigle, Cory Reed and Abram Zoschg who all doubled.
“It was a good win for us,” Harrier explained. “I don’t think
they realized we were going to hit the ball like we did.”
The Red Raiders will play Elk County Catholic in the
quarterfinals Thursday at a site and time to be announced.
