I’d tell you the only thing I got right last week was what
week’s games the NFL teams were playing, but I’d be wrong. Again.
It was Week 9, not Week 8 as I would have had you believe.
Wow, last week was rough. I went 5-9, but there were a lot of
upsets. We’ll chalk it up to the upsets. Except that
Raiders-Seahawks Monday Night game, that was a horrible pick.
After watching the Silver and Black’s pitiable offense, I’m not
sure why I ever thought they could beat the defending NFC Champion
Seahawks. I also thought it was impossible for a quarterback to be
sacked more than Drew Bledsoe but Oakland’s Andrew Walter proved me
wrong once more, going down nine times in the game.
Another selection that turned out to be a poor choice was
Chicago over Miami. I’m going to say only Dolphins fans and the
omniscient would’ve seen that one coming and let it go.
Let’s take a look at the games for Week 10.
BUFFALO AT INDIANAPOLIS – While last week’s win snapped a
three-game losing streak for the Bills, don’t expect any winning
streaks to get started this week. Buffalo may be making progress,
but the Bills just aren’t ready for a team like Indy – the NFL’s
only remaining unbeaten. The Colts are that good. INDY 37-17
SAN FRANCISCO AT DETROIT – According to NFL.com, the 49ers have
allowed 38.7 points per game on the road this year, worst in the
NFL. That’s not going to win many games. DETROIT 23-14
SAN DIEGO AT CINCINNATI – Things seem to be falling apart in
Cincy and LaDainian Tomlinson is having another great year. The
Chargers will up their record to 7-2. SAN DIEGO 27-14
BALTIMORE AT TENNESSEE – If you’re a rookie quarterback, even if
your name is Vince Young, you don’t want to face the Ravens’
defense. BALTIMORE 24-13
CLEVELAND AT ATLANTA – I expect the Falcons to rebound in this
one from last week’s fluke loss to the Lions. ATLANTA 17-10
WASHINGTON AT PHILADELPHIA – Going into last week’s bye, the
Eagles had lost three straight close games after starting out 4-1.
The off week should break the momentum of that skid and the Eagles
will beat the 3-5 Redskins in this NFC East Division game. PHILLY
14-13
GREEN BAY AT MINNESOTA – The Vikings lost to the 49ers 9-3 in
Week 9. I’m glad I didn’t buy a ticket to that game. I’ll take the
Pack in this one. GREEN BAY 20-7.
NEW YORK JETS AT NEW ENGLAND – Tom Brady might be able to
forgive himself a hard-fought loss to the unbeaten Colts last
Sunday night, but I doubt he’ll allow his Pats to lose to the Jets
in AFC East play. NEW ENGLAND 24-7
KANSAS CITY AT MIAMI – The Dolphins have to be feeling pretty
confident coming off of their upset win over the Bears. Even at 2-6
that might give them the edge in an upset over the 5-3 Chiefs.
MIAMI 21-17
HOUSTON AT JACKSONVILLE – Houston gave the Giants a scare last
week, but eventually fell 14-10 on the road. Jacksonville,
meanwhile, hung 37 points on Tennessee. JACKSONVILLE 28-14
DENVER AT OAKLAND – Oakland’s offense versus Denver’s defense is
laughable. Maybe they can muster a field goal this week. DENVER
24-3.
ST. LOUIS AT SEATTLE – Seneca Wallace has shown himself to be a
capable replacement in QB one Matt Hasselbeck’s absence. I like the
Seahawks at home. SEATTLE 31-23.
DALLAS AT ARIZONA – Arizona does have a lot of talent on the
roster. But Tony Romo’s confidence is building and T.O. seems
reasonably satisfied with his role for the Cowboys. DALLAS
28-21
NEW ORLEANS AT PITTSBURGH – Talk about role reversal. The
defending Super Bowl champs are having a rough go of it this
season. The Saints, however, are rockin’ out at 6-2 and I expect
them to be 7-2 after this game. NEW ORLEANS 19-7
CHICAGO AT NEW YORK GIANTS – Did you see Jeremy Shockey at No. 2
on Tom Jackson’s Jacked Up segment last week? That was awesome.
This should be a good game – the game of the week in fact – but the
Bears are awfully mistake-prone. NEW YORK GIANTS 30-21
TAMPA BAY AT CAROLINA – Let’s wrap this up. TAMPA BAY 20-17
