It’s been seven years, but today Otto-Eldred’s volleyball team is celebrating its first North Tier League title since 2009.
Emily Smith was credited with 18 points and had 40 assists to help the Lady Terrors clinch the NTL crown with a 3-1 victory over Port Allegany on Tuesday.
Set scores in the Lady Terrors’ 16th win of the season were 25-15, 25-18, 20-25 and 25-13.
Smith also had five aces, and was backed by Ali Cousins (16 kills, 11 digs), Alyssa Shelander (12 kills, 8 digs, 9 points) and Tiffany Bair (9 kills, 7 points).
“We had our ups and downs, but the girls stepped up and played well,” said Jame Thomas, Otto-Eldred coach.
Leading Port Allegany were Erin Stauffer (9 service points, 7 kills, 10 digs), Hannah Lathrop (5 kills, 5 blocks), Kierra Keck (7 kills, 5 blocks) and Makenzie Burr (6 kills).
Otto-Eldred (16-1) returns to action Thursday at Northern Potter.
In other league action, Meagan DeLuca came up with 15 assists to help visiting Smethport post a three-game sweep, 25-7, 25-9 and 25-8, over Cameron County.
Backing DeLuca were Abbey Woodard (10 kills, 3 blocks, 8 aces) and Katie Treat (9 kills, 5 digs, 5 blocks).
The win improved the Lady Hubbers to 7-6 on the season.
For Cameron County (1-11), leading the team were Payton Bloom (4 digs), Sami Bickford (8 assists), and Corrine Burnside and Kendyl Guisto each with three kills.
The Lady Red Raiders return to action Thursday at Coudersport.
