BROCKWAY – On the heels of a second-straight undefeated run through the North Tier League, Coudersport is in a familiar position as a top seed in the girls District 9 playoff brackets, released Friday morning by the district committee.
Though the brackets for Class A, AA and AAA are completed, exact times, dates and locations have not yet been finalized for most games.
Class AAAA, with some teams still playing Friday night, has not yet been finalized and no preliminary bracket was released.
The Lady Falcons, last year’ No. 1 seed in Class A, make the move up to Class AA this year. Coudersport gets the winner of Tuesday’s quarterfinal matchup between No. 4 Port Allegany (13-9) and No. 5 Curwensville (9-12). In a semifinal, second-seeded Kane (18-4) takes on No. 3 Cranberry (17-5).
Only the quarterfinal matchup has a set date.
In Class A, a nine-team bracket is set with North Clarion (20-2) and Northern Potter (18-4) set as the respective top two seeds.
No. 8 Smethport (10-12) takes on No. 9 Brockway (9-13), with the winner advancing to play North Clarion on either Thursday or Friday, Feb. 24. No. 4 DuBois Central Catholic (14-7) plays No. 5 Allegheny-Clarion Valley (13-7) in the other quarterfinal game in the top-half of the bracket.
In the bottom-half, Northern Potter gets seventh-seeded Johnsonburg (13-9), while No. 3 Otto-Eldred (15-7) takes on No. 6 Elk Catholic (14-8).
All quarterfinal games, with the exception of North Clarion, are set for Friday, Feb. 24. Quarterfinal and semifinal sites and times have yet to be determined.
Class AAA is a two-team bracket with Moniteau (19-3) taking on Karns City (17-5) on Friday, Feb. 24.
